An extract from the transactions of the Edinburgh Royal Society detailing the chemical properties of endemic New Zealand Toot plants, the genus Coriaria, commonly referred to by the Maori as Tutu. A majority of the varieties of these shrubs and trees are poisonous, containing as they do the neurotoxin Tutin. The paper is concerned primarily with the effects of this poison on grazing livestock, as such detailed experiments are conducted on a range of animals - including, naturally, Guinea-pigs.
