An anti-Catholic treatise by Church of England divine Thomas Seward (1708-1790) ,composed as a continuation of both A Letter from Rome (London, 1729) by Conyers Middleton (1683-1750) and Apocalypsis Apocalypseos (London,1680) by Henry More (1614-1687). The work vigorously argues that many of the customs and rituals found within the Roman Catholic church are derived from ancient pagan religious rites.
