ON TRIAL FOR PRINTING

LOTTIN, Augustin-Martin. Précis pour Le Sieur Augustin Martin Lottin, l'aîné, Imprimeur-Libraire du Roi & de la Ville, Appellant d'une Sentence rendue au Châtelet de Paris, le 21 Mars 1777.

[Paris]. [de l'imprimerie de Lottin l'aîné], [1777].
Quarto. 12pp. Stitched, as issued. Title stains to outer margin, lightly browned, occasional spotting. Contemporary manuscript annotations to title.
The second institutionally located copy of a pamphlet detailing Parisian printer and bookseller Augustin-Martin Lottin's (1726- 1793) appeal of his sentence for his involvement in the printing and distribution of an edition of Jean-Baptiste-Claude Delisle de Sales' controversial Philosophie de la Nature.

De Sales' work included a challenge to the 'young earth' date of The Creation. A contemporary annotation to the title of this copy records that the charges against Lottin were dropped.

OCLC records a single copy (BNF).
