Bound by Jefferies & Sons in contemporary half calf, cloth boards, gilt, marbled endpapers and edges. Extremities rubbed with some surface loss. Browning and foxing to blank endpapers, frontispiece, and title, newspaper articles concerning the life of Hatcher tipped-in to FFEPs.
Henry Hatcher (1777-1846), antiquary and translator. For much of his life Hatcher served as postmaster to Salisbury, the city about which he would write an historical treatise that would become his most celebrated work. The memoirs here presented focus upon this period and the subsequent respect afforded Hatcher by his fellow historians.
