[AMHURST, Nicholas]. Observations on the conduct of Great-Britain, with Regard to the Negociations and other Transactions Abroad.

London. Printed: And Sold by J. Roberts, 1729. First edition.
8vo. 61pp. p.[24-25] and [24-27] set out as four tables cataloguing 'Ships taken from his Majesty's Subjects by the Spaniards in the West-Indies, since the Hanov. Treaty, Sep. 3. 1725'. Disbound, with title detached, else a clean copy.
Often attributed to satirist and political writer Nicholas Amhurst (1697-1742), Observations forms a defence of Sir Robert Walpole against charges of neglecting England's commercial interests in the West Indies, thus strengthening the position of rivals Spain. Reference is made to British expeditions undertaken in the region, by the likes of Admiral Hosier, against the Spaniards; with an account of the degradations committed by the Spanish fleet upon British merchants, and a list of the vessels captured by them.
