Later gilt-tooled half-calf, marbled boards, contrasting lettering-piece. Extremities worn, upper board detached, loss to spine. Marbled endpapers, scattered spotting. With 28pp of manuscript notes (and a double-page table) in a single hand to rear.
The revised and enlarged edition of French polymath Louis-Sébastien Lenormand's (1757-1837) popular bookbinding manual, a part of the Encyclopaedia Roret, first published in 1827, frequently reprinted and re-edited until at least 1923.

This copy contains extensive manuscript notes on the production of leather bindings, in a single near contemporary Dutch hand, as well as a table relating to sizes of binder's type tools.
