[Four chapbooks] A Garland of new songs.
Newcastle upon Tyne. Printed by J. Marshall, in the Old Flesh-Market, [s.d., c.1800-31]
8vo. Four individual, single sheets, folded, each 8pp. Small woodcut to title. Unbound, slight browning, minimal marginal spotting, edges uncut.
Four different examples of popular songsters, all entirely typical example of the cheap, disposable works of popular verse issued by radical Tyneside printer, publisher and circulating library-keeper John Marshall (fl.1800-31), each containing four or five works. As the foot of the titles of this work notes, Marshall's output consisted largely of 'Songs, Ballads, Tales, Histories &c', and his press issued at least twenty different collections of verse under the title A garland of new songs.£ 250.00 Antiquates Ref: 17088
