A sammelband mid nineteenth-century tracts expressing anti-papal sentiments in regard to the re-creation by Pope Pius IX in 1850 of the Roman Catholic diocesan hierarchy in England. The publication of the Bull met with an eruption of hostility from English Protestants, including a letter of protest by Prime Minister Lord John Russell conveying contempt toward this perceived 'papal aggression'. The exception within this collection is the pamphlet appealing to the common decency of the public that they may accept the Bull written by Nicholas Wiseman (1802-1865) who had been appointed the first Archbishop of Westminster upon the re-establishment.
