The first edition of Robert Bontine Cunninghame Graham's (1852-1936) account of his attempt, in 1897, to cross the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to Taroudant disguised as a sheikh. He was was arrested and held captive by the kaid of Kintafi for four months and ultimately turned back to Marakesh.
