An interesting, unrecorded handbill shedding light on the art market in early nineteenth century provincial England. It advertises an auction held at Alnwick town hall in January 1812, including engravings by 'eminent masters' like Bartolozzi (after G. Morland), Westal, Vivares, Singleton, and Stothard. Among the highlights are representations of 'nearly all the different Engagements that have been fought at Sea since the French Revolution', sporting colour prints, ruins and landscapes and rural scenery.
