KELSO PRINTED METHODISM
A review of the principles of such methodists as are under the direction of The Rev. Mr John Wesley.
Kelso.
Printed, at the Union Press, by J. Palmer, 1784.
First edition.
8vo.
32pp. Uncut. Recently naively rebacked with tan paper. A trifle dust- soiled, recent manuscript shelf-marks to title page, ink-stamp and deaccession stamp of New College Edinburgh to verso, single early manuscript correction to text.
A rare survival of the sole edition of a provincially published anti-Methodist pamphlet, by John Muirhead (d. 1797), Gospel Minister at Kelso in the Scottish Borders, critiquing Wesleyan doctrine.
'I shall endeavour to shew, that Mr Wesley maintains principles unscriptural, and contrary to the analogy of faith, as well as the experience of all Christians, whether young or adult'.
