Light rubbing to extremities, dustwrapper chipped at edges with substantial tear to upper panel. Decorated endpapers, internally clean and crisp.
Walter Crane (1845-1915), English artist considered to be the most influential, and among the most prolific, children’s book illustrators of his generation and a primary contributor to the nursery motif that the genre of children's illustrated literature would exhibit in its developmental stages during the late nineteenth-century. The present copy of Crane's popular compilation of rhymes for young children is preserved with the rarely seen original publisher's pictorial dustwrapper.
