The complete run of Portuguese poet Jose Daniel Rodrigues da Costa's (1757-1832) monthly periodical of prose and poetry commenting upon contemporary manners and morals. Within each issue the setting for the diverting anecdotes varies from public spaces, private residences, places of worship, and in one instance a gaol. A prolific writer, da Costa's narrative poem O balao dos habitantes da lua (1819) is considered the first Portuguese work of science fiction.£ 450.00 Antiquates Ref: 20924
