TOMKINS, E. [compiler]. Poems on various subjects: selected to enforce the Practice of Virtue, and to comprise in one Volume the Beauties of English Poetry.

London. Printed for B. Crosby and Co., 1808. New edition.
16mo. [6], 256pp, [2]. With four engraved vignettes by Hopwood and a terminal leaf of publisher's advertisements. Contemporary gilt-tooled calf, contrasting green morocco lettering-piece. Rubbed and marked, some surface loss to upper board, joints starting. Marbled endpapers, recent bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst to FEP, early inked ownership inscription of Miss Katherine Wilkinson to front blank fly-leaf, inked initials 'J.W.' to title page.
First published in 1780, these poems on virtue were originally collated by calligrapher Thomas Tomkins (1743-1816). The 'E. Tomkins' listed as this edition's editor was presumably a relative.
