Lightly rubbed and marked. Marbled endpapers, binder's ticket and recent bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst to FEP, offsetting to title, scattered foxing.
An early French edition of German Romantic author Friedrich Heinrich Karl Lamotte-Fouqué's (1777-1843), fairy tale novella Undine (1811); translated by Swiss novelist Isabelle de Montolieu (1751-1832), primarily remembered for producing the first French translations of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion.

The binder of the present copy, William Dearden of Nottingham, transitioned into publishing in 1839, when he first issued the monthly periodical Dearden's Miscellany, a magazine devoted to contemporary innovations and the advance of the sciences.
