Two catalogues of artworks, held at the Royal Bourbon Museum of Naples and the Palatine Gallery of the Pitti Palace of Florence respectively, intended for the guidance and edification of Grand Tourists.

The Royal Bourbon Museum (today the National Archaeological Museum) exhibited a plethora of sculptures recovered from the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and at its core housed the celebrated Farnese Collection, one of the first collections of artistic items from Greco-Roman antiquity. The Pitti Palace collection was formed almost exclusively of artworks collected by the Medici dynasty, and notably includes paintings by Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio.
