A sumptuously bound, early edition (printed in the same year as the first) of French polymath Louis-Elisabeth de la Vergne, comte de Tressan's (1705-1783) adaptation of the 1526 printing of the perennially popular medieval chivalric romance Gerard de Nevers.
The finely executed plates, after designs by renowned draughtsman and illustrator Jean-Michel Moreau le Jeune (1741-1814), were engraved by J. B. Simmonet, E. de Gendt, Malbette, and Dupriel.
