8vo. 48pp. Recent decorated paper boards, calf lettering-piece to upper board. Extremities lightly rubbed and sunned. Internally clean and crisp.
The third edition, printed in the same year as the first, of an account of the arrival in 1617 of Spanish Catholic priest Joseph Calasanz (1557-1648), bearing an image of the Virgin mother, to Frascati, Rome - an event commemorated at the annual feast of the 'Queen of the Pious Schools' celebrated to this day. The church in Frascati, in which the portrait resides, is the final resting place Henry Benedict Stuart (1725-1807), Roman Catholic Cardinal, and last Jacobite claimant to the English, Scottish, and Irish thrones.
