An article, extracted from the Annales de la Societe geologique de Belgique, by Belgian geologist Paul Fourmarier (1877-1970) on the petrographical analysis of gold deposits in the South African province of Transvaal. Fourmarier was awarded the Wollaston Medal in 1957. He gave his name to the uranium-lead mineral Fourmarierite.
