The first edition of a pamphlet by religious writer Thomas Chubb (1679-1747) critique of the first volume of William Warburton's (1698-1779) controversial magnum opus The Divine Legation of Moses (1738). Chubb was a disciple of theologian and philosopher Samuel Clarke (1675-1729) who veered from Arianism to a form of modified deism.
