The first British edition of Ida Treat's memoirs concerning famed French adventurer Henry de Monfreid (1879-1974). Based upon conversations had between the pair, the book recounts Monfried's days smuggling along the African and Arabian coasts of the Red Sea, and was published prior to the more detailed accounts provided by Monfried in his first three volumes of autobiography: Les secrets de la mer Rouge, Aventures de mer, and La croisiere du hachich.
