A handsome copy of the first edition of Church of England clergyman William Bingley's (1774-1823) biographical compilation of influential Roman emperors, politicians and scholars; including, as is to be expected, Caesar, Cicero, and Cato. The work 'designed for the use of young persons', commences with a brief account of the author's life and writings and concludes with an appendix on Roman literature.
