The sole edition of a succinct history of the Kirk by Church of Scotland minister for Newbattle, Midlothian, John Charles Carrick (1860-1914). This copy was presented by the author to diplomat and Conservative politician Schomberg Henry Kerr, 9th Marquess of Lothian (1833-1900) who served as Secretary for Scotland under Lord Salisbury between 1887 and 1892.
