The first edition of colonial governor Sir Harry Charles Luke's (1884-1969) autobiography. Luke served as Commander of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on the Syrian Coast during the First World War. In 1921 he achieved the position of assistant Governor of Jerusalem, and from 1924 to 1928 held the post of Colonial Secretary of Sierra Leone.
