A collection of Original Letters and Authentick Papers, Relating to the rebellion, 1715.
Edinburgh. Printed for the Publisher, 1730. First edition.
8vo. , 168pp. Recent calf-backed marbled paper boards, lettered in gilt, T.E.G. Lightly rubbed. Armorial bookplate of Herbert Henry Raphael to FEP, coloured pencil-trials to two pages, occasional spotting.
The first edition of an anonymous, privately printed pamphlet collecting numerous 'true copies' of letters and addresses provided to the compiler 'by a credible gentleman'. Concerned almost entirely with the proclamations and correspondence which passed between Highland chieftains central to the 1715 Rebellion, the collection was published as anti-Jacobite propaganda, possibly due to the renewed threat of insurrection brewing in the nation, which would culminate in the rising of 1745.
