CRAWFORD, Mrs. A. Lismore.

London. Thomas Cautley Newby, 1853. First edition.
12mo. In three volumes. [2], 283; [2], 282; [2], 264, [2], 16pp. With a terminal catalogue of publisher's advertisements to Vol. III. Contemporary blind-tooled black calf-backed, green cloth-tipped marbled paper boards, lettered in gilt. Rubbed, corners bumped, remnants of bookseller's advertisement to upper board of Vol. I. Recent bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst to FEP of Vol. I, short tear to leaf D8 of Vol. III, scattered spotting.
The sole edition of Irish author Sophia Crawford's (1799-1878) third published novel; a triple-decker romance set on the titular isle in Scotland, which - as with all five of her undistinguished literary efforts to appear in print - was met with resounding indifference, thus likely accounting for the paucity of surviving copies of her works.

OCLC records copies at just five locations (BL, Cambridge, NLS, Oxford, and Trinity College Dublin); COPAC adds no further.
