Early inked ownership inscription and armorial bookplate of Clement Charles Rix Spelman to FEP, portrait photograph and paper label inscribed 'I Remain your affct. friend James Mills' to verso of title page, priced in manuscript.
The second located copy - once owned by the auctioneer - of the catalogue for the three-day sale by auction of the extensive fine art collection of Norwich resident James Mills. The 363 lots, comprised predominantly of pottery, porcelain, silverware, and medals, realised a total of £1,233.
Clement Charles Rix Spelman (1843-1899), sometime Mayor of Norwich, became a partner in H.W. Spelman & Co., Auctioneers, Valuers and Estate Agents, in 1874.
