London. Printed for H. D. Symonds, 1803. Fourth edition.
8vo. 24pp. Modern red half-calf, red cloth boards, tooled and lettered in gilt to spine. Minor shelf-wear. Marbled endpapers, scattered spotting.
A rare survival of a martial pamphlet, issued during the most acute stage of the Napoleonic invasion scare, providing a perspicuous synopsis of the laws governing the conduct and maintenance of Volunteer Corps within the British armed forces, specifically those formed or accepted under the Volunteer Act of 1802.

The Act permitted Volunteer and Yeomanry corps raised during the French Revolutionary Wars to continue to serve in peacetime.
