The sole edition, printed for private circulation, of a comprehensive catalogue of the art collection of Welsh iron industry magnate Henry William Forman (1794-1869) - later bequeathed to his nephew Major A. H. Browne - compiled by antiquary, and authority on hallmarks and potters' marks, William Chaffers (1811-1892).
The Forman Collection of antiquities ran to over 4000 items, and was particularly strong on Greek vases. Forman was also an admirer of William Hogarth, acquiring fifteen paintings by the artist, as well as various associated items that had formerly belonged to David Garrick and Horace Walpole, and virtually all Hogarth's engravings.
