The first edition, in original state of a rare conduct of life tale for children produced by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge under the direction of the Committee of General Literature and Education. The identity of the anonymous author has not been established, two previous titles are attributed to them, Arthur; or, The chorister's rest and The child comforters, both published by SPCK.
