Presentation copy, inked inscription to recto of front blank fly-leaf: 'Evander McIver Esq. / Representative of the families of Ness & Tournack / with the Author's kind regards'.
The sole edition of a succinct monograph on the history of Clan McIver by Church of Scotland clergyman and first Principal of the University of Aberdeen Peter Colin Campbell (1810-1876).
The recipient of this copy, himself mentioned in the text, was Evander McIver (1811- 1903), Scottish factor for the Scourie estate of the Dukes of Sutherland for fifty years, prominent proponent of crofting following the Highland Clearance, and author of the posthumously published Memoirs of a Highland Gentleman (Edinburgh, 1905).
