A methodist tract by Henry Venn (1725-797), English evangelical minister and one of the founders of the Clapham Sect. Well known for The Compleat Duty of Man (London, 1763), which supplemented his previous writing with more evangelical teachings, this particular work sees Venn warn against religious complacency, asserting the mistakes of those who believe in man's 'native innocence', and denying that heaven will be open to all.
