Portland, Maine. Thomas B. Mosher, 1923.
8vo. xv, [1], 124pp, [2]. With a portrait frontispiece. Title in red and black. A finely bound American edition, produced by Mosher, of British Arabist and explorer Richard Francis Burton's (1821-1890) long poem, a pseudo- translation containing a distillation of Sufi thought. Composed in 1857, the work was not published until 1880, in a run likely consisting of no more than 200 copies. Though neglected upon release, The Kasidah became quite popular after Burton's death, going through many editions and long remaining in print.
