The first edition of antiquary Lorenz Beger's (1693-1705) influential treatise on the history of ancient coinage. A significant numismatist, Beger served as librarian for Prince Karl Ludwig von der Pfalz from 1675 as well as conservator for the prince's collection of coins and medals. Between 1696 and 1701, he published his magnum opus, a comprehensive three volume catalogue of the ancient coins in the cabinet of the Electors of Brandenburg.
