A catalogue of the books belonging to the sheffield library, surrey-street.
Sheffield.
Printed by George Ridge, 1857.
8vo.
xiv, [2], 197pp, [1]. Contemporary green limp cloth. Lightly rubbed and marked. Internally clean and crisp.
A register of the books held by the Sheffield Library, with the rules of the library, and a list of subscribers. Founded in 1771, the library was one of England's earliest such institutions, conceived on the plan of that at Leeds established in 1768 by natural philosopher Joseph Priestley.
It is unclear whether editions of the catalogue were published regularly; issues for 1821, 1837, 1846, and 1852 are extent, though few in number. This edition for 1857 is apparently unrecorded.
