[Mid-nineteenth-century wooden block game entitled of the 'Sovereigns of England'].
[s.i.].
[s.n.], [s.d., c. 1860]
36-piece set of coloured engraved illustrations mounted on wooden blocks, printed biographical text to verso. Housed in original publisher's wooden box, bevelled lid with engraved colour illustration. Later clear adhesive repairs to box, pencilled gift inscription to base. Some pieces a trifle browned due to varnish deterioration.
A handsome Victorian block-based game portraying the monarchs of England, from William I to Victoria. Any challenge to a juvenile recipient in placing the blocks in chronological order is somewhat diminished given they are sequentially numbered.
