8vo. Contemporary dark green half-morocco, marbled boards, ruled and lettered in gilt, marbled edges. A trifle rubbed, spine sunned. Marbled endpapers, armorial bookplate of Thomas Gaisford to FEP, third, fourth, and fifth mentioned works damp-stained, occasional spotting. Pencilled manuscript notes, in Gaisford's hand, to head of titles of first, third, fourth, and eleventh mentioned works recording place and date of purchase - all at Granada in early June, 1846.
A coherent sammelband of twelve mid-nineteenth-century Spanish plays, predominantly comedies, from highly regarded authors including Manuel Bretón de los Herreros (1796-1873), Antonio Maria Segovia (1808-1874), and Ventura de la Vega (1807-1865); all published in Madrid, the majority at the press of prolific printer of popular playwrights madrileños José María Repullés.
