The author, 'In the hope of lessening the difficulties of sight-seeing at Lucknow', provides an itinerary for the would-be tourist, taking in the historical monuments, bazaars, and gardens of the city. The work concludes with a succinct history of Lucknow during the 1857 Mutiny.
