HOOD, Thomas. Poems by thomas hood.

London. E. Moxon, Son, & Co., 1869. Twenty-Second edition.
8vo. viii, 282pp. With half-title and an engraved portrait frontispiece. Finely bound by Zaehnsdorf (stamp-signed to verso of FFEP) in contemporary gilt- decorated green morocco, A.E.G., marbled endpapers, gilt dentelles. Bookplate of Bernard Lord Coleridge to front blank fly-leaf. Frontispiece browned, very occasional light spotting.
A Coleridge family copy, sumptuously bound by Zaehnsdorf, of English poet and editor Thomas Hood's (1799-1845) collected poems, first issued posthumously in 1847. Known for his humorous commentary on contemporary issues, Moxon's collections of Hood's verse were a wild success - as demonstrated by this twenty-second edition, over two decades later.
