A clutch of seven scarce chapbooks from the two-penny 'Library of Amusement' series of Derby-based printer and publisher Thomas Richardson, including those staples of children's literature, the tales of 'The Beauty and the Beast', 'Jack and the Beanstalk', and Puss in Boots', an adaptation of the enduring Cornish folk tale set in the reign of Arthur, Jack the Giant Killer, and the rather more esoteric 'The history of little jack, who was suckled by a goat', Thomas Day's (1748-1789) Robinsonade centred on a young boy raised by a spritely female ruminant, first published in 1787.
