A rare survival, in crisp original state, of a primer designed to instruct a juvenile readership in basic numeracy and reading comprehension. The Yorkshire Joint Stock Publishing and Stationery Company, who issued the work, purchased the premises of Otley-based printer Webb Millington in 1863. Their publications, predominantly chapbooks, toy books, and pictorial lessons, commonly used Webb Millington's old 'stock-blocks'. This re-use of texts, woodcuts, and engravings by make dating uncertain. The company does not appear to have survived beyond 1875.
