The first edition of the third series of this collected of verse by English poet Jean Ingelow (1820- 1897). First printed in 1863, Poems brought the author immense critical and commercial success, and ran to thirty editions in her lifetime.

Shadworth Hollway Hodgson (1832-1912), English philosopher, first president of the Aristotelian Society, and author of the Theory of Practice (1870), The Philosophy of Reflection (1878), and The Metaphysic of Experience (1988).
