The first edition of minor Victorian poet, social reformer, and Egyptologist Gerald Massey's (1828-1907) blank verse epic that 'may be read as a continuous Poem, or divided into separate Poems'. The book is dedicated to art historian and book collector Sir William Stirling-Maxwell (1818-1878), tenant of Craigcrook Castle, who, in 1855, had offered the use of the grounds to Massey, then in Scotland's capital as an editor at the Edinburgh News.
