A fine copy of the first edition of a collection of poems by a female, presumably Scottish, author. The poems, though predominantly devotional do include some notable curiosities such as; 'Lines on Sir J. Franklin's Expedition' commemorating the arctic explorer's final fateful voyage, an attempt to traverse the Northwest Passage; 'On the Comet of 1858', and two compositions celebrating the successful laying of the first transatlantic telegraph cable.
