London. Printed by and for William Darton, Jun., 1816. First edition.

The first edition, in original state, of William Francis Sullivan's (1756-1830) only work published by Darton. The Dublin-born author, son of jurist Francis Stoughton Sullivan (1715- 1766), read for the church at Trinity College. On the death of his father, he enlisted in the Royal Navy and served in the American war, afterwards settling in England where he took up teaching; his experiences in education informing the narrative of the present work.
