The account of life on a Kenyan coffee farm, between 1914 and 1937, by Danish Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke. Although written in Danish, it was with this British translation, published before either Danish or American editions, which secured lasting success for the author who had previously published 'Seven Gothic Tales' under the pseudonym Isak Dinesan. A poetic account of the local tribesmen, European settlers and the wild-life of what was then named British East Africa.
