Lightly rubbed and marked, with slight surface loss to edges, some scoring to boards. Illustrated bookplate of Alan Morris to FEP. Light browning and spotting to initial leaves; heavier spotting to rear blank fly-leaves.
The first edition of poet John Philips' (1676-1709) most renowned work, first printed by Jacob Tonson in 1708. The poem, composed in imitation of Virgil's Georgics, gives much detail of contemporary Cider producing lore, and features extensive allusions to Philips' ancestral county of Herefordshire.
