8vo. [4], 499pp, [1]. Bound by Leighton of London in contemporary calf, tooled in gilt and blind, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, all edges red. Lightly rubbed and marked. Marbled endpapers, pencilled shelf-marks to verso of FFEP, foxed.
A handsomely copy of German Jewish preacher and religious teacher Isaac Asher Francolm's (1788-1849) historical novel centred on the persecution of jewish people in twelfth century England.

From the library of Exbury House, Hampshire, recently dispersed (without any indication of such). Exbury House was acquired by Banker and politician Lionel Nathan de Rothschild (1882-1942) in 1919 and remains in the family to this day. Many of the books in the library were inherited from Alfred de Rothschild (1842-1918) of Halton Estate, notably considered one of greatest art collectors of his day.
