8vo. 100pp. Uncut. Stitched, as issued, in original publisher's powder blue wrappers, title in manuscript to spine. Extremities rubbed, marked, and creased, loss to head and foot of spine. Internally clean and crisp.
A continental edition, preserved in original state, of playwright, actor, and theatre manager Colley Cibber's (1671-1757) immensely successful comedy, first performed in 1704, described by Thomas Wilkes in A General View of the Stage (1759) as 'not only the best comedy in English but in any other language'.

This edition was also issued as a part of A collection of the best English plays, (1710-21), published by T. Johnson in The Hague.
