The catalogue, in original state and annotated throughout with the prices achieved, of the eight-day sale by auction of the second portion of the extensive library of banker, politician, and anti-abolitionist John Dent (1761?-1826).

The library, the first portion of which was sold across eight days commencing on 29th March, included a 1462 Latin Bible and the first three Shakespeare folios, was strong in works printed by Aldo Manuzio, including three Ciceros (two editions of Opera philosophica of 1523 and 1541, and Epistolae familiares of 1540), a 1546 Petrarch, and the 1494-95 Grammatica graeca of Lascaris, as noted in the catalogue: 'one of the earliest and rarest productions of the Aldine Press'. The two sales, totalling 2,976 lots, realised over £15,000.
